  • Unsigned builds may trigger a SmartScreen prompt saying the publisher is unknown.
  • Check that you downloaded the installer from Minnow’s GitHub release. For an unsigned build, More info → Run anyway opens it.

macOS

Apple Silicon (M1 or later)

  • Open the .dmg and drag Minnow into Applications.
  • The .zip contains the same app if you prefer to place it yourself. Requires macOS 12 or later.

macOS Intel

No packaged build yet. Build from source instead.

  • Minnow is packaged for Apple Silicon only. On an Intel Mac, build it from source.

Linux

  • Make it executable: chmod +x Minnow-*.AppImage. Then run it.
  • Tray integration uses AppIndicator or StatusNotifier. KDE supports this normally; GNOME may require an extension.

Your first change starts here.

  1. Open a project. Choose a folder or an existing Git repository.
  2. Connect a model. Run a local model, add a cloud API key, or connect an installed agent CLI in Models → CLIs. Vendor prices and limits apply.
  3. Start with a plan. Describe a small change in Plan mode, read the plan, then switch to Build when you're ready.

Updates

Installed builds update themselves. When a new version has downloaded, a Restart button appears in the menubar.

Pick a channel under Settings → About & troubleshooting → Updates: Stable gets releases only, and Beta also gets pre-releases.

System requirements

WindowsWindows 10 or later, 64-bit (x64)
macOSmacOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs can build from source.
Linux64-bit x86 distribution that can run an AppImage
DiskAbout 1 GB for the app, plus whatever models you download
ModelsA cloud API key, a supported agent CLI login, or enough memory to run a local model. The Models app estimates memory use before you download.

Build from source

Works on Windows, macOS (Intel included), and Linux. Requires Git and Node.js 20 or later. This is the same repository the packaged releases are built from. npm start starts the tool server and opens the desktop app.
